It's been one heck of an autumn already.
I can't say enough how overwhelmingly thankful I am for the support we received for our first book. October was such a fulfilling project, and Andy and I are still soaking in the full scope of what we accomplished.
It was also my first opportunity to exhibit a full collection of my artwork on my own - and it was the first time I got to see red dots on the wall next to my paintings.
And if ALL of that wasn't enough to make me want to sleep for the next year (and believe me... hibernation sounds amazing right now...) I have some new big things on the horizon.
First, I'm super excited to announce that I'm starting a tattoo apprenticeship in November at Heart & Skin Tattoo in Fort Collins. I'm SO excited to get to take my love affair with ink to another level, and the artists I get to study under are second to none. I'm really looking forward to being a student again. If you want to see my progress as I learn (or if you trust me enough to let me practice on you... permanently...) you can follow my new tattoo account on Instagram, @shannonfabertattoo. And if you want a tattoo before I start drawing on people, come get work done by the artists who are teaching me (@toddshowdown and @calebknobel) you won't regret it.
Second, I'm excited to be taking Ink & Tea in a new direction. When Andy and I decided to publish October on our own, I adopted the name Ink & Tea as an umbrella label to publish our book and for me to create art. But as our creative process expanded and the book came to be, we realized that there is definitely more where this came from for both of us. So in an effort to keep creating weird things, Ink & Tea will now be the publishing home for Andy's writing and my illustrations. Sometimes together, sometimes separately, we'll be updating this blog and Ink & Tea's social media with new creations and inspiration. And after we catch our breath from this last project, we'll start working toward our next book.
Along with this transition, I will be retiring my Etsy shop and all of the prints in it at the end of October. I will have a selection of new limited edition prints available through our website in the future, but if there are any of my old pieces you've had your eye on, get them this month before they're gone. Everything in my shop will be 50% off until it's closed too, so please go to town! (Use coupon code INKANDTEA at checkout)
Thanks again to everyone for being along for this ride. I can't wait to see what's next.
